Mission

Locally

Our mission is expressed in our vision

It is still true that most people come to faith through personal contact, whether a family member, friend, work colleague or someone else known to them personally. That is the origin of the role of “god parent” and can be seen in the example of Andrew bringing his brother Simon Peter to the Lord.

Increasingly, the internet is a way for people to explore the Christian faith before coming into personal contact with Christians and the church.

We also run various weekly activities to reach out to the wider community. English club is there for those whose first language is not English. Grace Café is an informal get together each week which is especially appreciated by some of our older people. Ladybird toddlers is for pre-schoolers and their parents or carers. Christian Activities Together (CAT Group) brings together young adults with special needs. Friday club is for primary age children. There is also a teens group.

On Fridays, the church has a book table out on the rock and there is street preaching.

We also hold occasional courses for those exploring the Christian faith. The next one is due to start in November 2024 and is called, “Four Big Questions.”

Beyond Bury

Our vision as a church also extends beyond Bury to other places and countries, being mindful of Jesus command to his church, “Go and make disciples of all nations.”

As a church we support the work of Grace Baptist Mission (GBM) including works in Poland, Madeira, Kenya, and also Christian radio reaching pastors in Africa and elsewhere.

We also support the work of the Bullock family in Zambia. Dan and Ruth Bullock work for OM Zambia ministries and have a long affiliation to the church.

The church recently purchased a motorcycle for a pastor in Pakistan travelling out to rural congregations.

Through our pastor, Russell, we also have connections with the Baptist churches in Novosibirsk (Russia), and Kyrgyzstan.

Other mission and Christian care agencies the church has links with include:
